For the third consecutive season, BFFT is the main sponsor of Schanzer Racing Electric (SRE). The Formula Student team from Ingolstadt has already cleared the first hurdle in the 2014 racing season. The 65 students successfully completed three so-called “registration quizzes”, thus qualifying to participate in the races in Germany (Hockenheimring in Baden-Württemberg), Italy (Varano de’ Melegari near Parma), and for the first time, in Austria (Red Bull Ring in Styria).
The aim of the registration quiz is to answer 10-15 questions in the shortest possible time about the regulations of the Formula Student racing series FSAE (Formula Student of Automotive Engineering) and the additional rules of the host country. The budding engineers at the Technical University of Ingolstadt successfully qualified for the races, which had more than 150 applicants competing for as few as 30 grid positions.
The construction of the latest Schanzer racing car (SRe14) has already been completely simulated in the computer and will be assembled over the coming months in the TU Ingolstadt workshops. Their first two vehicles (SRe12 & SRe13) already won the students a place in the top ten in world rankings. They intend to repeat this achievement in 2014.
BFFT congratulates the Schanzer Racing Electric team on the successful registration and is looking forward to racing together in the 2014 season.
