ImageProcessingUnit – IPU

Application scenarios:

Image Processing Unit (IPU) from EDAG BFFT processes video signals in real time and combines two different functions:

  • Importing a PC video source into vehicle displays via HDMI
  • Extracting digital display image content from the vehicle via HDMI or USB3.0

Specifications:

  • FPD-LINK I/II/III interface for 3G +, MIB1, MIB2, MIB2+, MIB3 and further combination of systems possible
  • Controlling head-up, infotainment displays, FPKs, instrument cluster
  • Configuration as input or output device
  • Lossless forwarding the input signal

Combination switch boards

The combination switch from EDAG BFFT is a hardware extension for series combination instruments, which is adapted to different vehicle models. Using the EDAG BFFT visualisation tool chain, image data can be individually fed and extracted. This is used in the automotive industry during the development phase in prototypes, test stands, technology carriers and test vehicles.

MMI switchbox is a control unit for testing, developing and presenting novel infotainment operating concepts.

Data protocols can be tapped, manipulated and output between the central computer and the control panel or touch display.

Different generations of the entire Volkswagen Group can be combined.

  • Message filtering and manipulation
  • Gateway functionality: Message routing between all bus interfaces

Both hardware and basic software are designed for all application scenarios in the vehicle, including quiescent management via CAN and Flexray and extended input voltage range.

Available interfaces:

1x LIN or RS232

1x Flexray (A + B channel)

OutputECU2

The 22 inputs/outputs of the OutputECU2 can be equipped according to application.

Possible options are:

  • 6 relay contacts against reference voltage or ground or alternating (1A)
  • 3 potential-free NC/NO contacts (1A)
  • 16 high side or low side switches (2A), 8 of them PWM
  • 8 dual outputs for simulating resistance-coded ground switches (2 positions)
  • 22 digital inputs
  • 20 analogue inputs
  • 5V SPI interface (2- or 4-pin)

Extensions:

CANmicroÇ extensions can be connected via an RS232 port.

BFFT Motor Power System is used to control up to five DC power motors. Use takes place in prototype vehicles. There, new seat adjustment or window lift functions can be realised with little effort.

Particularities:
Control can be done flexibly via CAN, LIN, Serial or USB or GPIOs. The device is closed current safe.

Specifications:

  • Overall performance: 850W
  • Input voltage range: 8-24V
  • 15A per channel

Extensions:
The basic version is available with two channels and can be expanded to up to five channels.
